After all, since he had an affair with Edwina Currie whilst married, presumably he knows a fair few things about deceit and telling lies.
He was on the Andrew Marr show on the B.B.C. earlier today saying that he thought the campaign to leave the E.E.C. was both deceitful and full of lies.
Hmm... Is that right Mr. Major?
Well, let's look at what he said.
In the interest of sanity if nothing else, we simply have to correct a couple of specific things he said.
He said that, as the leave campaign had claimed immigrants depress wages and also that they come here for the higher wages, they couldn't have it both ways and consequently their argument was nonsense.
Both facts are true.
He had in fact of course twisted the truth by confusing separate issues, thus taking them out of context to create a false dichotomy which of course all the pro-Euro fanatics have to do, because they don't actually have any real arguments against the actual facts.
Immigrants do depress wages at the lower end of earning because they simply create and represent an unlimited supply of labour.
And with an unlimited supply of labour, there is no need for employers to put wages up to attract or retain staff.
It also diminishes the power of the workforce to even ask for one, as all they get is the old chestnut of 'there's plenty more people out there'. (See Blog, Paid what you're worth 11/2/16).
And the reason why they do come here is due to the relatively high pay in this country which the absolute by any standard, low pay in their own country creates.
They come here and think they've hit the jackpot when they get £7 an hour; eastern European wages are much lower.
Both of these statements are true and for anybody with their feet on the ground in the real world, all too self-evident.
A more pertinent point to mention is that because these immigrants are virtually unanimous in being unskilled is why only affect the lower paid in society, whom of course are in the majority in a capitalist system.
A fact no doubt enjoyed by Mr. Major, as indeed it is by all the wealthy elite, because it doesn't affect them; it simply creates a lower paid work force for their corporate paymasters and a cheaper service industry for themselves.
Oh and of course, just like George Clooney (see Blog, George Clooney 14/2/16) and all the other gilded luvvies (see Blog, We The Undersigned 20/5/16), no doubt he doesn't have to live next door or indeed anywhere near them God forbid, as that would mean they would actually have to mingle with them which the rest of us have to put up with.
Do as I say, not as I do, me doth think.
Anyway, apart from the fact his argument is incoherent and disingenuous, as he has a knighthood he's basically just another bought and paid for, establishment yes-man who was never going to do anything other than support the position of his pay masters,
What he didn't tell you was that the very real issue of deceit which of course is the fact that the establishment has lied, from the start in the early 1970's, about the true nature and purpose of the E.E.C. (see all articles under The E.E.C. at top of homepage, specifically Relevance of FCO 30/1048 for full exposition of the truth) and has continued to do so for the last 40 odd years.
Now is your last chance to put an end to the political dictatorship of the E.E.C.
