8 minutes is a long time to wait when one person is walking the streets with a knife, let alone 2 or 3 nutters and is far too long.
Yet so far, no one has realized the plainly obvious fact, as to why these attacks can continually take place and indeed, do.
The clue is in the phrase 'Police responded within 8 minutes'.
The operative word being responded.
The fact is that the Police simply do not police the streets anymore and subsequently therefore, they do not have control of the streets.
They do not patrol the streets in order to prevent crime, they simply respond to criminal acts, after the event.
The Police aren't there to 'keep us safe', they're supposed to be there to enforce the law, thereby preventing crime and disorder which in turn would naturally lead to increased public safety.
However, that's something they can't do, because they're simply just not there.
No one has got the gumption to see that if they reverted to what they were originally set up to do, i.e. patrol the streets to ensure order and prevent crime, then these attacks wouldn't be able to take place in the first place.
It wouldn't take 8 minutes to 'respond', as there would be enough Policemen on the streets to deter crime from taking place in the first place, or worst case scenario, at least intercept such attacks, literally as they unfolded.
These Islamic terrorists and other criminals can go out in the Streets and do what they want, precisely because there is no one there to stop them.
Criminals know there are no Police on the Streets and they know they will have at least a 5-10 minutes head start.
And don’t think that Police patrols don't deter and thus prevent crime.
After all, they have permanent patrols for the Queen, Parliament, other important areas and indeed people who are deemed to be 'important', to do exactly that; thus making it harder to commit crime against them.
Also, note how after a major crime the Police swarm the area and step up patrols, stating exactly the point; that those high numbers patrolling will indeed ensure the safety of that area.
Yet if all those jump-suited, quasi-commando Policemen were out on the beat preventing crime, as opposed to presumably sitting about waiting for a call about crime which by definition, has already been committed, there wouldn't be a need to 'respond' to anything in the first place.
When she was the Home Secretary, Theresa May scorned the Police Federation for 'crying wolf' about the reduction of Police numbers, saying that it wouldn't lead to a 'paramilitary style' Police Force.
Yet that is exactly what we have got.
If Police with masks on, armed to the teeth, with bullet proof vests and helmets, 'responding' in numbers can't be described as a paramilitary force, then I don't know what is.
If there were Police on the streets, then most of the crime in this country would be prevented from happening in the first place, thus preventing the need for a 'response'.
We've written about this before (see blog, Peter Hitchens on B.B.C.1 'Question Time', 4th November 6/11/15).
And an 8 minute response is simply ridiculous.
