The Government are on about forcing companies and public bodies to make sure they have equal numbers of men and women etc.
Quite why, we don't know, as neither exist to do that; indeed it’s not their concern, objective or remit.
However, on that logic then, when the gender balance and/or ethnic balance in the population changes, as it inevitably and quite naturally will do, what then?
We have questioned before why the ‘equality’ brigade never campaigned for equal numbers of British Army in Afghanistan; some 500 odd or so men died and something like 2 women.
Again, on their logic shouldn't we be trying to get an extra 498 women killed in order to balance the figures and thereby 'represent' the gender make up of society, equally?
Let’s say 90% of the population in 20 years’ time are men.
Does that mean that the 'equality' and 'diversity' brigade will all be campaigning to have 9 out of 10 positions occupied by men, in order to reflect that?
Or vice-versa of course; if 90% of the population were women, does that really mean that they would insist 9 out of 10 jobs were filled by women?
